A New Fairfield homeowner called us because half the power in their house was out.
At the outside meter, the breaker looked okay at first — but there was a distinct fishy smell. That unusual odor around electrical equipment can be a warning sign of overheating.
Once we opened it up, we found the problem: the main 100-amp breaker was badly burned.
We replaced the damaged breaker, cleaned everything up, restored 240 volts to the house and tested everything inside.
