Water Damage Behind the Washer? Here’s What We Found
The Problem
The homeowner noticed water damage in the laundry room. Water had been leaking down the corner of the wall and ceiling behind the washing machine, eventually reaching the electrical outlet.
What We Found
After safely shutting off the power and opening the outlet, we found evidence of water intrusion inside the electrical box. Because this outlet serves a washing machine, it also needed to be upgraded to a GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) outlet for added protection.
How We Fixed It
Once the plumbing leak had been repaired, we replaced the damaged outlet with a new GFCI receptacle, tested it to verify it was operating correctly, and plugged the washing machine back in. Everything worked properly with no nuisance tripping, and the outlet was ready to safely return to service.
